step by step view here
This is a better more clearer view of the birthday present I made for my friend from work. We're both Tim Burton mad and one of her fave characters is Edward Scissorhands so I made her an Edward Scissorhands themed frame
It took ages and used a lot of materials but I'm very pleased with the end result and I hope she likes it. I kind of finished it a little early, her birthday isn't until the 28th but I didn't want to stop working on this as I was having so much fun Materials used:
plain wooden frame
kitchen towel rolls
dried reindeer moss
black picture wire
metal scissor charms
Boy that's a lot and it only took me 6 days on and off too. As I fitted it in around work and such, pretty impressive huh? Well I was going to do it on my days off leading up to her birthday but I enjoyed doing it so much I couldn't stop.
Originally I was going to cut up tissue paper to make the grass but whilst I was in Hobbycraft I walked past the aisle for flower arranging and spyed artificial grass and thought it was perfect, only downside is when broke apart it makes a mess and it's not very easy to tame into a shape so once it was dry I had to cut it down.
The two shapes covered in moss are supposed to be a dinosaur and a giraffe, why? Well those who have seen the film will know that he cuts hedges and grass into shapes so I had to add that in. I was goind to add snow to the castle bit but it would have been too much.
I was also going to draw Edward to begin with but I sucked at getting all his details right so I cheated but I don't think that will matter. And the scissor charms are just a little something extra to fit the theme.
Hope you like it
